Preparation checklists

Preparing for a tax appointment
- Government-issued identification for each taxpayer
- Taxpayer identification information for everyone on the return
- Income documents as they arrive, including employment, self-employment and other income records
- Expense and deduction records that apply to your situation
- A copy of the most recent tax return, when available
- Any notices or letters received from a tax agency
- Banking information you intend to use for a refund or payment
Preparing for a bookkeeping consultation
- A description of the business and how records are currently kept
- Access details for existing accounting software, if any
- Bank and credit-card statements for the period being reviewed
- Sales, invoicing and receipt records
- Expense and vendor records
- Payroll information, if applicable
- A list of questions or reporting you need
Preparing for a business-services appointment
