What to expect

  1. Confirm appointment type and availability.
  2. Bring the unsigned document unless instructed otherwise.

  4. Complete the required notarial act.
  5. Pay the confirmed service and any approved travel fee.

Important: Notary appointments are performed in person. Online availability for other VSS services does not extend to notarizations, which remain subject to the notary's commission and applicable law.

    Current government-issued identification that is acceptable under applicable law. Every required signer must present identification.

  • Should I sign the document before the appointment?

    No, unless the requesting agency instructs otherwise. Bring the unsigned document and sign during the notarial act.

  • Can VSS provide legal advice about the document?

    No. A notary cannot choose documents, prepare legal forms or advise on their legal effect.

  • Are mobile appointments available?

    Mobile appointments are available when permitted and scheduling allows. Availability and any approved travel fee are confirmed in advance.

  • Are witnesses provided?

    Witnesses are not supplied by VSS. Bring any witnesses the document requires.

  • Can every document be notarized?

    No. Legal requirements must be satisfied, and a notarization may be declined when they are not.
